SHALOM SPECIAL SCHOOL

From the Principal’s Desk

We the Assisi Sisters of Immaculate, Nirmal Mata Charitable Society is dedicated to work for the socially rejected sections of humanity, like lepers, deaf and dumb, HIV patients, terminally ill cancer patients and Mentally Challenged Children.

At the inception of the society in Bhopal in 2005 we found this is a pressing need to start a special school for the Mentally Challenged children, as they were locked up behind the doors and no one to care and educate them. During the survey we found that the children of this group belong to very poor families and parents were unhappy and depressed. So, we started school on 8th December 2005 with 16 children in an inertial village Lambakheda, Bhopal. We submit students of different categories irrespective of cast and need.

“Whenever you did this for one of the least important of these brothers of mine, you did it for me” Mt-25/40). Being encouraged by the divine words of Jesus we initiated our loving service to the intellectually challenged, the so-called marginalized of society. With the continuous efforts of special educators and the timely intervention of various therapists, our children with special needs are enabled to be independent, useful, and productive members of mainstream society.

The aim and objectives of the Shalom Special School are to encourage and assist the challenged Lillie ones to improve their mental and physical abilities and make them self-reliant and bring them to the mainstream.

We enhance our special youngsters with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Training and continue with the other skills which are essential for an individual to live in Society. We facilitate our special youngsters with Vocational Training such as making paper bags, flower making, greeting cards, candle making, , etc… Shalom is imparting education and training to these special youngsters and being a source of life-giving experience and spark of hope to the differently abled youngsters and their parents. I am indebted to God for blessing me with the charism to serve the poor, marginalized, and less privileged in Society. I look forward to your invaluable support, and cooperation for the advancement of these differently abled children.

With sentiments of gratitude,

Ms. Siji George (Principal)
